How to: Target Facebook Ads
Showing you how to target Facebook ads through video is much easier than telling you through words.
The trick is to first put yourself into your ‘s shoes. Think about what other interests they might have not related to your product. If you start by thinking outside of your product, you’ll find way more people who you will be useful to than if you were to target using just keywords related to your product…
Doing this, you’ll have a much better understanding of how you’re going to fit into you your s lives. Which hopefully will prevent you from trying to be your s lives.
Once you understand how the targeting platform works, optimize your facebook ads to stand out to the people you’re targeting.

Hey Tommy – found out about your blog from Larry over at
http://www.thesolopreneurlife.com
Love this topic – the targeting in Facebook is super cool and seems to be really cost effective – great to see your post/video on it. We're experimenting with this right now for FamZoo.com . We tried an ad that was targeted at adults in the parenting age range who attended the same university we did and then made the ad image tie in with the university mascot and the copy be along the lines of “Have you seen the site that your classmates Bill, Chris and Henry '84 put together?…”. For this small audience, we paid by impression instead of click figuring that the highly targeted/optimized ad would garner a better click yield. We're getting roughly twice the click through rate at half the cost-per-click of our previous (relatively) untargeted ad run. Really excited to try additional highly targeted+optimized ad placements.
For you screencasts, you might try ScreenFlow on the Mac – super easy to use and pretty powerful editing capability. I use it to do our videos

and even as a relative rookie, you can do some pretty cool looking edits. I think my biggest suggestion would be at zoom way in on the section of the web page you're talking about.

Thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to check out ScreenFlow.
I'm always happy to hear about people's success when using the Facebook ad platform because I believe it is so powerful and can give you extremely valuable information through it's analytic reports.
Though I'll admit I am surprised to hear that you were more successful using the cpm model for audience building… I have found for the purpose of building a core group I enjoy their ppc over the cpm model. I usually use the cpm for more promotional based ads designed to raise awareness, and the ppc model for more action orientated ads… I'd be interested to know more about your campaign to see if there might be something I missed.
Glad you enjoyed the post! Be on the look out for more. This is only the beginning.
