New Facebook Business Page Changes! Must Watch!
Facebook will be unrolling some pretty major changes to its Pages platform, and in this video I’ll go over what those changes will be.
If you have any questions, or if I missed something please let me know in the comments below.
Without any further ado, let’s talk about the changes.
1. Showcase your latest Photos.
Much like the recent Change to the Facebook Profile, this Page update will automatically display the last 5 photos that the Page admin either uploaded or has been tagged in.
It does not include photos that were uploaded by fans, so no need to worry about fans spamming you with inappropriate photos.
Also, uploaded photos will be a jumbled mess, because the new format shows a the last 5 thumbnails. Use a service like Profile Maker to create a banner for your Page’s Photo section.
2. Left hand navigation.
Tabs are out, left hand nav is in.
No worries though, you still have a default landing pages. Which was a feature many Page admins thought would be missing when a Facebook developer prematurely hit the “launch” button a few months back, and this layout was shown while still in development.
3. Top Posts
Gone are the days of you looking like a fool on your own Page. Facebook is now showing only top posts to viewers of the Wall! This means the most recent posts with the most feedback will be shown first, and all the junk posts will not be displayed.
There are also two filters (instead of three) that allow you to show posts by everyone, or posts only by the Page.
4. Use Facebook as your Page
Probably the most significant and most called for feature Page admins have been waiting for!
- Get notifications when a fan comments on your update!
- “Like” other Pages and have a “Page ONLY” News Feed (great for spying on competitors)
- Feature other Pages on your Page
- Comment on other Pages as your Page (great for b2b networking!)
5. Settings
Not horribly significant, but the settings button has been placed in a more user friendly position on the top right hand side of the page.
A few new features have been added to settings as well.
First you can get email notifications for any and all activity that happens on your Page
You also can choose to comment on your Page as yourself (through your own profile) or as a Page
A “Moderation Blocklist” has been added as well. Facebook says “You can add comma-separated keywords to the “Moderation Blocklist”. When users include blacklisted keywords in a post and or a comment on your Page, the content will be automatically marked as spam.”
Family friendly brands may also be happy to know that a profanity filter has been added to make sure that bad words won’t get through.
Now that all of these changes are in place…
Facebook will likely be viewed as a more serious contender in the B2B networking space.
Giving administrators the ability to “like” other Pages and comment on behalf of the brand, we may see more partnerships and alliances formed, and joint efforts between different Pages.
What do you think? Could this put LinkedIn in danger?

Nice article; thanks for sharing.
Good work, man! Gotta head over to that profile maker and get my banner going.
I can see a few things I’m going to want to play around with. That admin profiles feature is pretty savvy. I think once this get going LinkedIn is going to have a hard time catching up to this.
Stupid profile maker!! Lol. I couldn’t get it to work on my page. Even when I was using Facebook for my page. It kept telling me I had to be “me”. I don’t wanna be me, I wanna be my page! grrrr..
Yeah I actually need to retract that comment too, something they’re doing with Pages that they weren’t doing with Profiles is randomizing the order of the image thumbnails.
Profilebanner.com will work for creating a banner, but the recommend that you create a banner with 5 images that repeat so you don’t have to worry about everything getting broken up randomly.
Yes, this is very frustrating! But I imagine that profile maker will soon be available for business pages too. We just have to be a little patient
Excellent! Thank you…
Interesting stuff Tommy. I didn’t know about these changes. I’d heard that changes would be made but I didn’t get a chance to look yet.
I’m mostly excited for the pages only newsfeed. Definitely want to do some spying on competition.
I think the changes are going to open Facebook pages up to a new kind of spamming as companies will assign several users as administrators of their business facebook page and have them all use facebook as page and go around posting likes and worthless comments on other pages just to try to draw attention to their own pages.
Very valid, but think it will be prevalent in some industries more than others. Also with the new spam filters that have been introduced and the ease marking a comment as spam, that will deter such behavior. Also getting too many spam complaints will get a Page shut down without warning, so I think if too many people try this, they’ll learn a lesson hard and fast.

Tommy,
Thanks for taking the time of making the video.. I learned a few things… Did not know of the featured admin feature.
Great job Tommy, its surprising that FaceBook wasn’t so thorough with its “tour”. One thing I dislike is the ordering of the wall posts based on popularity/interaction. As a FaceBook page owner, I find it confusing with keeping track of new posts when the order of posts is constantly changing. I have over 100k fans on the page so makes it a little taxing to keep up. There should be an option to to switch this feature on/off don’t you think? Otherwise, the FB update is most definitely a logical upgrade for the tool. One other thing to note is that the custom tab page width has changed to 500 px and profile image size has also changed from 200×600 to 180×540 pixels.
Finally, the profile maker app sounds interesting, i will be taking a look at that today!
Thanks
I thought the same thing, but than again, it can be difficult to explain everything they’re talking about in text…
I agree, the new edgerank algo incorporation does make it a little extra difficult to keep up with everything, it’s as though they expect you to be logged in as your Page all the time, but then again… maybe that’s not so bad either… I’m going to test out and see if I can be logged in as both myself and my page at the same time… that would be trippy.
I didn’t realize it changed from 520 to 500… that’s good to know… and where the Photos were automatically resized I wasn’t sure it was worth mentioning, but I suppose if I said this is ALL the changes they made… that would be kind of ill informed…
I made this video the day the changes were previewed and have since learned that http://www.profile-maker.com doesn’t work quite the same way as I had expected because the images in the ribbon are the last 5 photos that were uploaded but they are randomized.
I did come across this post today that I think can be helpful
