Tired of the same old online marketing advice?
Back in January of 2012, I launched a show called “Inside the Mind” which offered expert-level advice on online marketing, packaged with Internet-generation humor and professional editing. (watch the pitch video, you’ll see what I mean)
The primary goal:
Open source online marketing and make it fun and easy to learn. For example, We provided detailed lessons on
- How to create key performance indicators
- How to raise your prices
- How to make a comprehensive customer service strategy
But this isn’t your grandpa’s online marketing advice.
We want to show you how to use the internet to get more traffic, leads, and sales and make you laugh while you’re learning. (seriously, watch the video)
Season 2 Won’t Just Be a Show. It’ll be an Experience.
With Season 2, we want to increase the production values of the show by 10 billion percent.
- Email marketing
- Conversion optimization/split testing
- Launching a product
- Web design
- Community building/finding your tribe
- And more platform specific things like Optimizing Twitter
*All topics are subject to change depending on the needs of our audience.

Feedback on Season 1

>>But that’s not all!<<
Something else we’ve been working on in the off season is networking with different indie bands to bring a higher production values to the show’s background sound and in-show skits.
Take Action, Get Rewarded
- Monthly live Q&A sessions with myself & other experts
- Discounts on reputable programs
- The ability to network with other “Inside The Mind” viewers
- Platform specific strategy maps and other actionable downloads

“Geeze Tommy, $100,000 Seems Like An Awful Lot.”
It is. There is no doubt about that, but what we’re looking to do with Season 2 is make the information transcend beyond that of your standard web-series.
Shows like FilmRiot are produced to a higher standard, and we’d like to match (if not exceed) the quality of that production.
With that comes costs that aren’t quite so obvious. Rigging like Camera Dollys, Jib Arms, and Industrial strength tripods can cost upwards of $$1,700 a piece.
The subtle movements of each one of these rigs, combined with the expertise of the professionals I’d like to bring on board, all make up a unspoken visual language we’re used to seeing from “professional” productions.
Even if you don’t know production, your eyes know the difference between a professional and hacked DIY production.
With the proper equipment and staff, we’ll be able to make every episode into something more polished and visually compelling, which in turn will make the information easier to absorb.
Part of the budget is also allocated toward marketing of the show/network.
For those of you who choose the rewards tiers that allow your product or business to be featured in the episode, this means ongoing marketing for you at a fraction of the cost and no work on your end.
As for casual members, as the network expands, the more valuable your own personal network/expertise becomes. First generation users of the Inside The Mind network (Codename: Citizens of the Internet) will have a smaller private network to bounce ideas off of myself and guest speakers.
As the newer generations of users start joining in, older members can share their expertise thereby stregthening their own network & customer base.

As A Backer, What’s In It For You?
Starting at $50
You will have a access to private email consults with me.
In each email consult, I will answer any question you have regarding online marketing in no less than 1,000 words (but will do more if absolutely necessary)
Over the years I have curated a personal library of very valuable resources. This means I have sifted through garbage and cherry picked the best stuff so you don’t have to.
In each consult email I will combine these resources with my own personal knowledge to help you overcome your current challenge.
It’s like a mini course tailored specifically to helping you work through your challenge.
At $300
We up the ante a little. Your question becomes the premise of the episode.
When you combine this with (3) 1 on 1 emails, you’ll be getting a private Q&A with resource library, expert level consulting within the episode, as well as additional exposure to the product or service.
As I market each episode in the initial push, I’ll be subsequently marketing you.
In the longer term, video tends to rank really well in the search engines, and Youtube is the #2 search engine on the planet right now, so you’ll get long term passive traffic in addition to the initial promotional push.
At $2,000
Things start to get really interesting. First, I’ll send you my karaoke rendition of “Ice, Ice, Baby” which is always good for a laugh.
You will also receive (10) 1 on 1 email consults ( Remember Min 1,000 words tailored specificially to your needs)
As well as the Pre-roll sponsorship spot (this episode is brought to you by [Your Company Here]
At $5,000
You receive all of the above + access to my private group coaching ($10k value) where I’ll get even more hands on with your online business and you’ll be able to network with a smaller more private group of talented business individuals
Not only that, but you’ll have an “in-show” advertisement promoting your business smack dab in the middle of the episode.
This ad/sketch will use similar humor to the show so it won’t inturrupt the viewer’s experience, but it will be very clearly advertorial but don’t worry, you’ll still have some input.
The in-show ads/scenes will use a similar format to improv shows like “Who’s Line Is It Anyways?” (unfamilar? Click the link)
At $10,000 and Above
In addition to the “In show” commercial, private group coaching etc… my creative team will also produce a commercial for your own use complete with a marketing plan.
Higher tiers means we produce more videos.

Why Not Do It On The Cheap Like You Did Last Season?
The simple answer is, we can’t.
Not if we want to stand a chance at improving the baseline for what free information is out there.
Last season, each episode took 95+ man hours to complete. This was because neither I nor my assistant editor are really filmmakers. Throughout much of the process, it was the half-blind (me) leading the blind (my assistant)
This left very little room for marketing, spending time with my family, or doing anything else that wasn’t the show.
In order for the show to reach it’s real goal of mainstreaming online marketing concepts, I have to take a more hands off approach on production and leave it in the hands of professional filmmakers.
While it might not seem like it watching one 3-6 minute episode at a time, by the time Season 1 had wrapped, we had produced over 2 hours worth of finished content – enough for a feature length film – and well over 44 hours of rough footage.
Without having professionals handle the production, we’ll essentially be creating content for content’s sake, but it won’t go as far as it needs to to make the impact that is intended.
Beyond wanting to hire professionals to handle most of the production work, and wanting to actually have to to Market a show about Marketing (heh) I also think this space could benefit greatly from higher production values.
Like I was saying earlier, your eyes are tuned into a certain visual language that has been spoken through mediums like film and television. Even though you might not understand production, your eyes and your brain do. And they can tell the difference between professional and semi-professional DIY production.
By increasing the production values of the show, I’m trying to turn the volume down on that sublimial part of you brain that says “well it’s just a youtube video, so I don’t really have to pay full attention”
I believe that level of production is what will help move the show beyond the “audience who wants to know online marketing”. This level of polish is often the missing piece that many marketing “clients” need to make the information sink in and make sense.
Many of the items listed in the budget are tools that are used ever so subtly to add that level of polish that seperates the “guy with a camera” from a “filmmaker”
We want to reduce the friction to learning as much as possible, and have time to actually spend getting the show out there. So what that really all boils down to is better gear and the right people to operate it.
If you’re looking to make better videos, this is your chance to be trained in real time by professionals who have worked in New York studios and Hollywood sets. We’re going to be LiveStreaming what happens on set, as well as the editor when he’s cutting the episodes together.
It’s online marketing and film production training all in one!
Thanks
P.s Why are we doing this?
I believe much of the information about online marketing should be liberated. Not only that, but it should be fun to learn. Too many small and medium sized business out there have either:
